Position: Sr. QA Engineer

Works within project teams to identify product defects as early in the development lifecycle as possible. Also works within the release team to identify defects in the integrated product and to determine overall product quality. Works with test automation engineers to create and maintain regression tests. Works under limited supervision; assists Quality Analysts I and II, provides mentoring as requested.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participates in project-level verification activities (reviews, inspections, and walkthroughs) to contribute to requirement definition, become familiar with the project requirements and design and to ensure testability.
2. Works with business analysts and developers to identify functional tests that will determine whether the project satisfies its requirements and that the actual behavior matches the desired behavior. Reviews developer-conducted unit tests to determine the software product’s readiness for functional testing.
3. Plans, implements and executes project-level functional tests and integration tests. Analyzes results, generates defect reports in the project’s defect tracking tool, and validates fixes.
4. Plans, implements and executes product-level system, installation, conversion, and interoperability tests. Participates in performance testing. Analyzes results, generates defect reports in the call tracking system, and verifies fixes.
5. Plans, implements and executes detailed system-level business cycle scripts for test automation.
6. Suggests opportunities for test automation.
7. Plans, implements and executes related product-level installation and interface tests with MFG/PRO and other related products. Analyzes results and generates deficiency reports. Produces the final validation report.
8. Defines, produces, maintains and reports applicable test metrics.
9. Takes a lead role in homeroom organization meetings, reporting and training activities.
10. Participates in ISO Quality System Audits and ISO Quality System Meetings.
11. Follows established Verification and Validation (V&V) procedures as documented in approved policies, processes, and work instructions
12. Contributes to the continual improvement of the (V&V) procedures.

Education / Training / Work Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance, computer science, other field relevant to QAD’s core business (e.g., manufacturing, finance), or equivalent work experience. Quality Assurance experience with database applications, client-server applications, APIs, or web-based applications..

Special Knowledge & Skills:
Extensive knowledge of one or more aspects of manufacturing or financial processes. Excellent general application knowledge and deep knowledge in one or more areas. Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle and proficient in testing methodologies, including test automation. Excellent analytical and communications skills. Excellent computer skills. Knowledge in API and EDI testing desirable. Knowledge of financial, automotive, or medical compliance requirements a plus.
