Mr. Cluey : Problem Reports : Master plans and sub plans

Master plans and sub plans

Forwarded to me by Jason Clagg

It has been found that if a user is using both a master plan and a
window plan (sub-plan) it can not always be assumed that changes to
one will update the other. If a window plan is included in a master
plan using the include statement, and is then run, the full window
plan is physically included in the master plan. At this point any
editing in either place will be reflected in the other upon a save and
a "re-open", which is exactly how Quality Works should function. The
problem arises when the entire window plan is physically included in
the master plan (after a run or a double-click on the gray diamond)
and then is commented and uncommented. If this happens, regardless of
any other circumstances, the include statement is no longer pink,
instead it is black. At this point the master plan contains a copy of
the window plan in its entirety and will no longer be affected by
changes in the actual window plan. In other words, the keyword
"include" ceases to be recognized. At the very least this seems like
something the user should be warned about. The Intersolv hotline was
unable to help when asked about this and only though extensive testing
did I find the cause of this problem.
